Steenkerke (German: Steinkirchen ) (also: Steenkerque , Steinkirk ) is a village in West Flanders and has been part of the city of Veurne since 1971 . The village has 434 inhabitants (as of February 2008) and is separated from Veurne by European route 40 .
Attractions
There is a church dedicated to Laurentius and a church tower from the 12th century. It has been a listed building since 1993. There is also a Belgian military cemetery from the First World War, where some fallen British were buried.
