Stef Penney
Stef Penney (* 1969 in Edinburgh , Scotland , United Kingdom ) is a Scottish filmmaker and author .
Life
Penney grew up in her hometown. At the Bristol University she earned a degree in philosophy and theology before turning to filmmaking. Three short films were made. She then studied film and television at Bournemouth College of Art . After graduating from college, she was in the support program for young writers of the TV (New Writers Scheme) Carlton Television added. In 1996 she also wrote a short film with Anna Friel for the BBC TV series 10 X 10 , which she also directed. The title was You Drive Me . In 2002 , a digital short film starring Lucy Russell was made for the UK Film Council , which has since been sacrificed to save money .
Penney's first novel The Tenderness of Wolves is set in Canada in the 1860s. Since the author was suffering from agoraphobia at the time she wrote the novel , she never went to Canada and had to do her basic research for her work in London libraries.
