Stefan N. Grösser (born May 1, 1978 in Göppingen ) is a German economist and professor for strategic management and business analytics as well as course director at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) in Switzerland.

Life

Between 2000 and 2004, Grösser studied technically oriented business administration at the University of Stuttgart . He finished his studies with a technical degree in business administration . He then studied the simulation science System Dynamics at the University of Bergen in Norway from 2004 to 2005 and graduated with a Master of Philosophy. In addition to a position in a management consultancy, he did his doctorate in management at the University of St. Gallen and completed his doctorate in 2011. During his doctorate, he was a visiting researcher at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .

From 2011 to 2017, Grösser was Professor of Strategic Management at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and Head of the Strategy and Simulation Lab (S-Lab). In addition, Grösser was Vice President of the non-governmental organization ShelterBox Switzerland from 2009 to 2011 . From 2015 to 2017 he took on the role of deputy head of the Institute for Corporate Development at the Bern Business School. He is also in charge of the key topic “Strategy work, entrepreneurship and innovation”. Since 2016 he has been deputy head of the BFH Center for Energy Storage.

In 2017, he initiated the digitalization -oriented Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and heads this degree.

research

Larger's research interests include strategic management, decision-making in complex systems, business models , mental models and simulation methods (e.g. systems dynamics ). He particularly focuses on the use of dynamic models and frameworks in strategic management, organizational theory, business model modeling, and organizational development for better decision-making in complex contexts. He shows that models and computer modeling can play an important role in individual or group-oriented decisions. His contributions help to raise awareness of this topic.

His current research interests include the analysis of circular business models for the solar energy / electricity industry as well as studies in the area of supply chain- related drug delivery bottlenecks .
