Stefan Szirucsek

Stefan Szirucsek (* 1969 ) is an Austrian local politician ( ÖVP ) and has been mayor of the Lower Austrian municipality of Baden near Vienna since September 2016 .

Life and commitment

Stefan Szirucsek is a civil engineer by profession, chairman of the supervisory board of Immobilien Baden GesmbH & Co KG and has been a municipal councilor in Baden since 2005 (chairman of the committee for security and civil protection and deputy chairman of the committee for building matters, urban gardens and viticulture). From 2010 to 2015 he was a city councilor.

After the mayor of Baden, Kurt Staska (ÖVP), surprisingly announced his resignation, Stefan Szirucsek was unanimously nominated as his successor by the ÖVP city council on September 21, 2016, and on September 27, 2016 by the local council as the new mayor of Baden with 31 out of 40 votes elected (33 valid, 7 invalid votes, one of the 41 members of the municipal council was missing).

Szirucsek states that the goals are to maintain the high quality of life in Baden, to expand public participation and to continue on the path taken with regard to the responsible use of resources, the preservation of green spaces and ecosystems.
