Kurt Staska

Kurt Staska (born June 12, 1959 ) is an Austrian local politician ( ÖVP ). From April 2010 to September 2016 he was mayor of the Lower Austrian municipality of Baden near Vienna .

Life

Kurt Staska attended the Baden high school Biondekgasse until 1977. He works as a department head in the town hall of the municipality.

From 1995 Staska was councilor of the city of Baden and from 2005 deputy mayor. After the mayor of Baden Erika Adensamer (ÖVP) announced her resignation, Kurt Staska was unanimously elected the new mayor of Baden by the local council in April 2010 with 41: 0 votes, although the ÖVP only has 18 seats in the local council. Before that, he was Vice Mayor.

He is chairman of the ÖAAB Baden. At the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) he is a committee member of the professional association of health companies and the professional group of baths. At the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKNÖ) he is a member of the tourism and leisure industry sector conference as well as a deputy chairman and member of the specialist group committee for health companies. He is also one of the three vice-presidents of the Austrian Association of Spas and Health Resorts. Kurt Staska is President of the Society of Friends of Baden. He is a member of the Round Baden Sports Table, the Baden Aid Organization, the ÖRK Baden, the Kolping Family Baden, the bowling and football branch of the Baden AC and the ASV Baden football club .

In September 2016 he announced his resignation as Mayor of Badner, Deputy Mayor Helga Krismer-Huber from the Greens temporarily took over the business.
