Steffen Dölger (born May 31, 1974 ) is a former German football player .

career

Dölger came to the Braunschweig Lions from the Wolfsburg Blue Wings in the run-up to the 1995 season . For Braunschweig, the 1.82-meter-long kicker and punter stood on the lawn until 2000 and contributed to the German championship titles in 1997, 1998 and 1999 as well as to the Eurobowl victory in 1999. In addition, he was in 1996 in the squad of the college team of the University of Kansas . The hope of a contract with the Rhein Fire team in the World League of American Football was dashed for Dölger when the Düsseldorf team preferred to hire former footballer Manfred Burgsmüller  for the kicker position.

From 2005 Dölger was part of the Braunschweig team again and stayed with them until 2008. During this time he won another title with the Lower Saxony: German Champion 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2008 he was named Sportsman of the Year by the city of Braunschweig  . He set up several team records, so when he left the Braunschweig Lions, Dölger was among other things the player who had scored the most field goals and booked the most extra points in the club's history. In 2014 he was inducted into the club's hall of fame .

Dölger played in the shirt of the German national team at the 2007 World Cup, where he achieved third place with the selection.
