Steinacleit

Steinacleit (also stone-a-Cleit) is a circular structure prehistoric southeast of the hole at Duin , wherein Siader on the west coast of Lewis on the Western Isles in Scotland . It is not a stone circle or chamber grave ( English chambered tomb ), as referred to it often.

Ten large stone blocks surround a central hill. The structure is about 15.0 m in diameter and oval in shape. The monument has never been explored, but recent excavations under sand dunes on Harris , North Uist and Benbecula in the Western Isles have uncovered similar remains, albeit on a much smaller scale. These structures belong to settlements (homesteads) of the 3rd and 2nd millennium BC. Local legend in the Outer Hebrides links Steinacleit to a nearby battlefield.
