The old stone house is the former seat of a castle man on Moormannplatz in Werne , Unna district . It was built in the 13th century by a drosten from Werden Abbey and is one of the oldest buildings in the city.

From 1400, the owners included a knight von Lembeck, from 1484 Rötger von Diepenbrock, and from 1560 to 1806 the lords of Merveldt zu Westerwinkel . The Moormann company was one of the private owners . The Werne City Library has been located in the Steinhaus since 1983 .
