Baile Mhargaite's stone chest 1

The stone chest of Baile Mhargaite 1 is in Bettyhill, between Achina and Farr in Sutherland in Scotland . It is one of three stone boxes in Baile Mhargaite.

The small north-south oriented, sand-filled stone box (called "Cist b" by Canmore) measures 0.8 × 0.6 m and lies in the middle of a mass of stone material on a gravel ridge. It may have been covered by a cairn in the past , as there are many such monuments on this sandy plain. It is possible that it was the place where "fragments of cups ... in a cave at Bettyhill" were found. But the archaeological records of John Abercromby (18411924) and M. Mitchell are not accurate enough. Two other boxes nearby are also potential candidates.
