Stone circle St Colmac Cottages
The stone circle of St Colmac Cottages (also called Ettrick Bay) is located southeast of the B875 (road), west of Port Bannatyne, and 130 m east of the St Colmac Cottages, as the only preserved (of two circles) on the Isle of Bute in Bute , in Scotland .
The starting stone circle stood 25 m to the west and is still recognizable as a remainder with five stones on maps from the early 19th century. There are also three menhirs , one of which is marked with a cross. The Cairn "Watch Hill" and a burial ground, which presumably contains stone boxes, are nearby.
The stone circle with a diameter of about 13.0 m lies in a small beech grove. It consists of four complete stones (0.55 to 2.4 m high) and four in situ , located but broken stones, is added a 1.7 m high outliers ( English outlier ). There is no trace of the ninth stone mentioned by JK Hewison. The circle is surrounded by a wall about 33.0 m in diameter.
