The Sony α99 ( SLT-A99 ) is a SLT camera housing from Sony with A-bayonet and the successor of the models α900 and α850 . It is Sony's third model with a full-frame sensor and was presented at photokina in autumn 2012.

With the Alpha 99, Sony addresses the ambitious to professional photographer. In contrast to the Alpha 77 , it has a small image sensor, a fully controllable audio input, and offers the Quick Navi-Plus operating concept, with which settings can be made much more directly.

In September 2016, Sony presented the successor model Sony alpha 99 II at the photokina trade fair , which has a slightly higher frame rate (12 frames per second), an image sensor with a significantly higher resolution (42.2 megapixels) and the option of 4K videos is equipped.

  • Microphones
  • XLR kit
  • Viewfinder & Monitors

  1. Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green and blue channels of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the viewfinder display with 786,432 [pixels] × 3 [color channels] = 2,359,296 pixels.
  2. Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green, blue and white channel ( RGBW ) of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the rear display with 307,200 [pixels] × 4 [color channels] = 1,228,800 pixels.
