The Sony α55 ( SLT-A55V , SLT-A55 ) is a mid -range camera that has been available in stores since August 2010. It is the first digital camera (besides the Sony α33 ) with a partially transparent mirror. Sony calls this design “ single-lens translucent camera ”, or SLT camera for short . As an SLT, it offers phase comparison autofocus in live view and an electronic viewfinder . The successor is the Sony α57 .
By using the partially transparent mirror instead of the usual folding mirror, which has to be folded up for the recording , it is possible to take up to ten images per second with constant refocusing . Up to now, this speed has only been reserved for much more expensive cameras, if at all. At the same time, it is one of the first four Sony Alpha cameras with a built-in video recording function (maximum 1920 × 1080 pixels). As usual with Sony, the α55 has a built-in image stabilizer for the 16.2 megapixel sensor.
The Sony α55 is available on the market in the following versions:
- SLT-A55 (no GPS , only outside of Europe)
- SLT-A55V (camera without lens with GPS )
- SLT-A55VL (camera with 18–55mm 3.5 / 5.6 Sony lens and GPS)
- SLT-A55VY (camera with 18–55mm 3.5 / 5.6 and 55–200mm 4 / 5.6 Sony lens and GPS)
Maximum continuous video recording time:
Model name | Ambient temperature | Image stabilization | |
---|---|---|---|
On | Out | ||
α55 (SLT-A55V) | 20 ° C | ≈ 9 minutes | ≈ 29 minutes |
30 ° C | ≈ 6 minutes | ≈ 13 minutes | |
α33 (SLT-A33) | 20 ° C | ≈ 11 minutes | ≈ 29 minutes |
30 ° C | ≈ 7 minutes | ≈ 22 minutes |

Individual evidence
- ↑ Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green and blue channels of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the rear display with 307,200 [pixels] × 3 [color channels] = 921,600 pixels.
