The Sony α58 ( SLT-A58 ) is a mid -range camera that has been available in German stores since April 2013. It is the successor to the Sony α57 and at the same time replaces the Sony α37 . Like this one, it has a partially transparent mirror. Sony calls this design “ single-lens translucent camera ”, or SLT camera for short . As an SLT, it offers phase comparison autofocus in live view and an electronic viewfinder .
By using the partially transparent mirror instead of the usual flip mirror, which has to be folded up for the recording , it is possible to take up to eight images per second with constant refocusing , in JPG + RAW mode it is still 5 images / s. It is also possible to focus in live view mode at the same speed as with the viewfinder. As usual with Sony, the α58 has a built-in image stabilizer " SteadyShot " for the 20.1 megapixel sensor.
The Sony α58 is available in the following versions:
- SLT-A58 (camera without lens )
- SLT-A58K (camera with Sony DT 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II lens)
- SLT-A58M (camera with Sony DT 18-135 mm F3.5-5.6 SAM lens)
- SLT-A58Y (camera with Sony DT 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II and Sony DT 55-200 mm F4-5.6 SAM II lenses)
