The Sony α300 ( DSLR-A300 ) is a digital SLR camera from the series of Sony , which was introduced in April of 2008. The α300 is next to the Sony α350 (with which it is identical except for the image sensor and all related functions and properties) the first digital SLR camera from Sony with live view (image preview) on the rear display. In the viewfinder there is a small image sensor above the exit pupil, which generates the live image for the display. This means that the actual recording sensor is not activated and the mirror is not folded up, which benefits the noise and the autofocus speed. Like the Sony Alpha 100 and Sony Alpha 200, the Sony Alpha 300 has a CCD sensor with an effective 10.2 million pixels.
