The Sony α6500 (or Sony Alpha 6500 ) is a mirrorless system camera from the Sony α series . The model with internal number ILCE-6500 was announced on October 6, 2016. When it was introduced, the recommended retail price was 1700 euros.

The cameras of the Alpha 6000 series are system cameras with an image sensor in APS-C format, a resolution of 24.3 megapixels and extensive internal image recording and processing software; they have a three inch display and a digital viewfinder. As with all cameras in the Alpha series, the Sony E-mount system is used as the lens connection . The software enables video recordings with a resolution of up to 4K . Images are recorded as JPEG and in Sony's own raw data format ARW.

With the Sony Alpha 6500, the manufacturer installed the integrated 5-axis stabilizer for image stabilization in the camera itself for the first time. This enables longer exposures when taking photos by hand.

Video formats:

  • 4K at 30 fps, 24 fps (NTSC)
  • 4K at 25 fps (PAL)
  • Full HD with 120 fps, 60 fps, 30 fps, 24 fps (NTSC)
  • Full HD with 100 fps, 50 fps, 25 fps (PAL)

With the Sony Alpha 6500, a resolution of Full HD in 60i or 50i ( half images ) is possible.
