The Sony α77 ( SLT-A77V , SLT-A77 ) is a SLT camera ( single-lens translucent ) - a digital camera similar to a DSLR camera . The camera is the successor of the α700 and the predecessor of the almost identical Sony Alpha 77 II . At the time of the market launch (October 2011 in Germany) it was Sony's top model with APS-C sensor. Like the Sony α55 and Sony α33 , which were released in autumn 2010, the camera does not have a conventional folding mirror, but a partially transparent mirror and an electronic viewfinder.

In some countries the Sony Alpha 77 is delivered without GPS, in which case the letter V is omitted in the version designation. Shortly after the market launch, various bundles of camera bodies with various Sony and Zeiss lenses that differed from the basic range were offered in European retailers.
Furnishing
The camera has a CMOS sensor APS.C with 23.6 × 15.8 mm, which enables the camera to have an effective resolution of 24.3 megapixels with an adjustable 350 dpi and a color depth of 36 bits. The two file formats JPG and RAW can be triggered together or individually. The JPG format can also be selected in a lower resolution, but RAW is only 24 megapixels. The electronic viewfinder measures 1.3 cm and offers 100% image coverage with 786,432 pixels, each consisting of three sub-pixels of the color channels red, green and blue. The viewfinder brightness adjusts itself automatically to the ambient light conditions of the subject. The viewfinder adjustment options range from −4 to +3 dioptres. The TFT monitor (7.5 cm), which can be swiveled in two axes, offers a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels. The Sony A77 has another display (LCD) on the top, which shows information such as aperture size, ISO value and exposure time. The handling of various settings has been made easier by a second dial on the front of the camera in addition to the rear dial. Like many professional cameras, it can be controlled using a remote control. For sale in the German-speaking area, the basic version of the camera has a switchable Global Positioning System (GPS) that inserts the GPS position data longitude, latitude and, as a special feature, the altitude (altitude value) directly into the EXIF data. A powerful, intelligent flash system can be folded out (expandable at Sony for "unleashed flash"); The built-in flash is not installed high enough when folded out to be able to easily avoid all shading with longer or very voluminous lenses or attached lens hoods. A so-called hot shoe is available for slip-on accessories, for which Sony also supplies a hot shoe adapter for other systems. When using the Sony portrait format grip (a well-equipped battery grip), not only are the shutter release button and the on / off switch available again, but also some of the essential controls (for practicable portrait format photography), which are otherwise only found on the back of the camera are.

Individual evidence
- ↑ Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green and blue channels of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the viewfinder display with 786,432 [pixels] × 3 [color channels] = 2,359,296 pixels.
- ↑ Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green and blue channels of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the rear display with 307,200 [pixels] × 3 [color channels] = 921,600 pixels.
