The Sony A7R II (internally ILCE-7RM2 , Interchangeable Lens Camera with E-mount 7 , also α7R II) is a mirrorless system camera from Sony . It is part of the α series with a full-frame image sensor. The camera was launched in Europe in August 2015.
Technical specifications
The successor to the Sony A7R , the A7R II , appeared in summer 2015. Major changes were the adoption of the five-axis image stabilization already used in the Sony A7 II , which is built into the housing and can be combined with image stabilizing lenses, a higher resolution of 42 megapixels and a hybrid autofocus with 399 phase detectors integrated on the sensor. For the first time in a full-frame camera, a back-illuminated CMOS sensor is used. Other innovations include a revised shutter that also works noiselessly, lower-noise images with an exposure index of up to ISO 102,400 (extended) and increased dynamics. The theoretically already available option of adapting lenses with the Canon EF bayonet on the A7R has been improved by the introduction of a much faster reacting autofocus.
In the video sector, Sony expanded the camera to include the option of recording videos in 4K resolution with 3840 × 2160 pixels at 30, 25 or 24 frames per second and recordings in the XAVC-S video codec .
reception
In the first practical tests before its global launch, the camera received largely positive reviews. The manufacturer advertised the camera to ambitious amateurs and professional photographers. The photographer Brian Smith summed up his impression that, unlike all other models in the A7 series, the A7RII has no particular strengths or capabilities, but does everything well. DPReview attested Sony a “level of innovation and effort that you can see here, that is considerable " be. Trusted Reviews wrote of a "dream camera for many", Kai Man Wong from Digitalrev called the A7RII a "Canon 5Ds R Killer", which has experienced "colossal changes" as part of the model change.
At the end of 2017, the successor model, the Sony A7R III, appeared .

- ↑ Sony (along with other manufacturers) counts the subpixels of each pixel, i.e. H. the red, green, blue and white channel ( RGBW ) of each pixel individually, and therefore specifies the rear display with 307,200 [pixels] × 4 [color channels] = 1,228,800 pixels.
