Parkneuk Stone Circle
The stone circle of Parkneuk (also "Creuchies" called) is a four-post or "sky stone circle " on Cateran trail about 6.5 kilometers north of Blairgowrie in Perth and Kinross , Scotland .
Four Poster Stones have only a limited regional distribution. They belong to a monument class that consists of at least four menhirs that form the corners of a square or rectangle, so that the term circle (English circle ) seems absurd. However, excavations have shown that these stone settings are remnants of former stone circles from the Bronze Age . If more than four stones are preserved, the four corner stones protrude in size. Four Poster Stone Circles are found mainly in Scotland , but especially in Perthshire .
Parkneuk's northeast stone is on the ground, but the other three are standing. It measures around 4.5 x 3.8 m. Aubray Burl writes that the ring is tiered towards the southwest, where the tallest stone is about 1.4 m high.
The four-post stone circle of Tullymurdoch is about 100 m away.
