Tynreich stone circle

The stone circle of Tynreich (.. English Tynreich Stone Circle, East Lodge Cottage or Ballinluig; Gäl Tigh-na-ruaich) is just east of A9 (road), at the end of St. Cedd's Road, in Ballinluig ( Scottish Gaelic : Baile an Luig) in Perthshire in Scotland .

The stone circle consisting of six stones has a diameter of about 6.7 m. The stones vary in height between 0.85 and 1.8 m. There are also big differences in the mass. The largest stone is a massive triangular block. It is perhaps even less massive today than it used to be, as frost cracks on the outside show that a piece was blasted off.

The circle was first mentioned in 1855, in the Gaelic form "Tigh-na-ruaich", the "house of the heather". During an excavation in 1855, four urns with corpse burn are said to have been discovered. These were apparently broken during the recovery and their whereabouts are unknown.
