The row of stones of Knockanoura (also called Irish Cnoc na bhFear Bréige , Knocknafearbreaga or The False Men - "[hill of] the wrong men") lies on a high ridge, immediately southeast of the Clooney National School, in the townland of Knockanoura (Irish Cnoc an Amhra ) in Carrahan, 6.7 km west of Tulla in the south of County Clare in Ireland .

The approximately 4.2 m long northeast-southwest oriented row of stones consists of three approximately 1.7 m high triangular stones that are crooked at both ends.

Legend

The name The False Men they received after a legend. A monk who was building the church in Tulla heard the roar of a bull being attacked by three thieves. He knelt down and prayed and cursed the person who tried to hurt his bull. The thieves were knocked down and became the Farbreags (Irish fir bréige ) or sham men.
