Tulla

Tulla ( Irish : An Túlach; Eng .: "hill") is a place and Parish in County Clare in the west of the Republic of Ireland .

Tulla received town charter in the 13th century ; Tulla Church was founded by St Mochuille around 620. The round early ecclesiastical enclosure of the old church near today's town center is clearly visible in the aerial photograph; it is used as a cemetery. The Great Famine in Ireland in the middle of the 19th century also hit Tulla hard; between 1845 and 1851 the population in Tulla Parish fell from about 9,000 to 6,700 people.

Today Tulla is a small center town , 20 km east of Ennis and about 25 km west of Lough Derg ; the population of the place was determined by the census 2016 with 661 people.
