Adventure Games - Discover the Story is the name of a game series by the two Australian game authors Matthew Dunstan and Phil Walker-Harding , which is published by Kosmos Spiele . The games are based on the concept of Escape Games and combine them with the computer game genre of Adventure Games , in which the other players have to develop a story together through various options in the game. As with the games in the Exit series and other escape games, they have to solve puzzles, but the game is played differently than with these cards, on which the players have to choose points in the form of numerical codes in order to progress.

The games in the Adventure Games series are designed to be played only once, as the players then know the solutions. In contrast to the Exit games, however, no game material is changed or destroyed.

Equipment and style of play

The adventure game is about how a computer adventure game, to reconstruct a history and is to solve various puzzles. The players start with a few clues and gradually have to work their way through the game with different locations and actions. The games are designed in different degrees of difficulty for one to four players and divided into three playing times, each with a playing time of 90 minutes.

The equipment varies depending on the game. It includes brief instructions that outline the concept of the games and introduce the players to the specific game. There are also character cards, location cards and adventure cards that are tailored to the game. The character cards contain character descriptions and individual properties that are used in the later game. The location cards each show a room with several options for action in the form of numbers that are actively used by the players and behind which there may be further options, puzzles or even traps. These are determined by the adventure book and the adventure cards, which are also available. With some options, new rooms are brought into play or existing rooms are changed. In addition to his character card, each player also has a character that he places in the game in the places where he is currently located.
