Matthew Dunstan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matthew T. Dunstan (born November 15, 1987 in Sydney , Australia ) is an Australian chemist , materials scientist and game designer . As a scientist, he works in the field of metallic materials and their use for binding carbon dioxide and for use in lithium-ion batteries . In addition to his scientific work, he develops board games , some of which have been published by various publishers.

biography

Dunstan began studying chemistry at the University of Sydney in Australia in 2006 and went to the University of Copenhagen in Denmark as part of a semester abroad in 2009 . He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2010 and received the University Medal for his above-average degree. He was also awarded an External Research Studentship from Trinity College, Cambridge, and the Poynton Scholarship from the Cambridge Australia Trusts as a doctoral scholarship. He joined Professor Clare Gray's group at the University of Cambridge ( United Kingdom ) in 2011 and received his PhD there in 2015 . In 2013 he received the Dow Sustainability Innovation Challenge Award for his research and in 2014 the Science & Technology Facilities Council Futures Early Career Award. Since 2015 he has been working as a research assistant at the University of Cambridge.

Matthew Dunstan develops games in his spare time, many of which have been published by various publishers and some internationally. The earliest game releases date from 2013, when he was able to place Relic Runners on Days of Wonder and the Empire Engine , developed together with Chris Marling, on Pegasus Spiele , among others . He developed several games, especially with Brett J. Gilbert , that were published between 2015 and 2018. The game Elysium was nominated for the expert game of the year in 2015 .
