Iello ( spelling : IELLO ) is a French games publisher and distributor founded in Nancy in 2004 by Cédric Barbé and Patrice Boulet . The publisher, originally focused on trading card games , is now an international games publisher and also develops its own games.
history
Iello was originally founded in 2004 as a mail distributor for trading card games , but developed into a games publisher with its own games by 2009. In 2011, the publisher published the game King of Tokyo by Richard Garfield and became internationally known. In Germany, the game was distributed by the Heidelberger Spieleverlag . In 2012, Iello founded a subsidiary in the United States in Las Vegas as IELLO USA. According to the publisher , King of Tokyo has sold over a million copies and translated into 25 languages within five years . Together with its successor, King of New York , published in 2014, the game still represents the economic basis for the development of the publisher, which by 2017 claims to have sold more than 100 games and developed around 25 new games.
In Germany, Iello cooperated with Heidelberger Spieleverlag until 2016 , and since 2017 Hutter Trade has been the regional sales partner for the German-language translations of Iello games for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
King of Tokyo received the Dutch Game Award in 2013. In 2017, the cooperative children's game The mysterious forest was nominated for children's game of the year and received the Austrian game award game of games "Spiele Hit für Kinder". In addition, numerous games for the French were nominated for As d'Or - Jeu de l'Année, which the licensed game Andor (German: The Legends of Andor ) received in 2013.
