The Stella Alpina (SA) (German: Edelweiß) is an Italian regional party. The Christian Democratic Center Party is active exclusively in the Aosta Valley and is part of the region's political autonomy movement .

history

The party was formed in 2002 in opposition to the regional government made up of Union Valdôtaine and Democratici di Sinistra - Gauche Valdôtaine and has been part of the government in association with the Federation of Autonomists since 2003 . The Stella Alpina initially provided the MP candidate Marco Viérin , while Leonardo La Torre received a government post from the Fédération .

In the 2003 regional elections, the Stella Alpina, together with the Fédération Autonomiste, received 19.8% of the vote and won seven regional councils. The Federation left the alliance shortly after the election with three regional councils. From 2002 to 2006 the Stella Alpina was represented in the Chamber of Deputies by Ivo Collé .

In the 2006 elections , the party formed the alliance Vallée d'Aoste - Autonomie Progrès Fédéralisme with the Union Valdôtaine and the Fédération Autonomiste , which, however, was subject to the center-left party alliance Autonomie Liberté Démocratie and thus could not send any MPs or senators to the Italian Parliament . In 2008, the three autonomous parties reunited in both the parliamentary and regional elections and have since provided a senator .
