Adjusting ring according to DIN 705

An adjusting ring is in mechanical engineering a from cast or wrought iron produced ring , which on a shaft is made fittable and from this through one or more or screw is fastened. Adjusting rings are standardized in DIN 703 and DIN 705.

Because the adjusting ring is supported against other machine parts , bearings , etc., it holds the shaft or moving parts on a shaft in a certain position. The screws are countersunk to prevent accidents.

Adjusting rings as a locking system for weight plates

Adjusting rings are several centimeters of pipe with a screw. The pipe sections are pulled over the dumbbell bar and fixed with a screw. There are roughly two types of screws: Allen screws and adjusting toggle screws. The Allen screws wear out quickly. The advantage of the adjusting rings is that they securely fix the discs on the barbell.
