The Abendrot Foundation is an independent Swiss pension fund founded in 1984 .

The Abendrot Foundation is a pension fund founded in 1984 which participates in the implementation of the mandatory occupational pension scheme (2nd pillar) . It is an encompassing pension scheme which, as a collective foundation, is open to employers to insure their employees.

Since it was founded, the Abendrot Foundation has observed clear principles and pursues objectives that are of central importance to it and which represent its actual character. She lives sustainability in the plants by pursuing an investment policy on the basis of "health, environment and fairness" and thus not only emphasizes creditworthiness and profitability, but also social and ecological criteria for every investment.

She was the first pension fund, a widower and a partner's pension introduced.

In 2018, 1,232 companies were affiliated with the Abendrot Foundation. 12,236 people were insured, 7,434 of whom were women and 4,802 men. The number of pension recipients was 1,832. The premium income based on the year 2018 amounted to CHF 95.5 million . As of December 31, 2018, the coverage ratio was 107% and the plan assets amounted to 1,909.2 million Swiss francs.

The foundation supports the corporate responsibility initiative .

In the securities sector, the Abendrot Foundation invests exclusively in companies which, according to an independent environmental and social analysis, are among the best in their sector and which exclude critical sectors such as agrochemicals, genetic engineering, nuclear energy companies, the armaments industry, tobacco industry, etc. The properties are built or managed with low emissions and in an environmentally conscious manner and managed directly by the Abendrot Immobilien AG subsidiary.

The fund also made investments abroad. An 18,000 square meter wasteland called “Holzmarkt” was added to the portfolio of the cash register from Berlin . An artists' village, a business incubator and a hotel are being built on it. The Abendrot Foundation also owns several tenement houses in Berlin. Overall, the foundation manages assets of around CHF 2 billion.
