Vogelsang residence

The former residence Vogelsang was a mansion in Graz , which stood in the district of Straßgang at Greifenweg 17-19. Its history goes back to the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century.

The residence was built in the 17th or early 18th century. A renovation took place in 1859, which was indicated by a date on the southern gable.

In the southeast corner of the building there was a sloping, tower-like porch with wrought-iron window lattice baskets from the 18th century. In the garden of the property there was a free-standing sandstone fountain built around 1780/90 with a vase-crowned stele, a shell-shaped stone trough and a mascaron relief that served as a gargoyle . It was surrounded by a wrought iron enclosure.

Next to the residence was a wine cellar dated 1719. This had a basket arch stone gate with sheet metal door leaves. The winegrower's house was also built in 1719, as indicated by a date on the purlin . Inside it had a wooden beam ceiling and a smoking room .
