Democratic Youth Foundation
The Democratic Youth Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation under public law.
The foundation was initiated in 1990 by the Round Table of Young People in Berlin. Equipped with 20 million D-Marks, she started her work to support youth work in the new federal states. Today it operates nationwide in some subject areas. The foundation is based in Berlin and has one employee.

The Democratic Youth Foundation used its own funds and outside funds to support youth participation, volunteering and democratic development projects. The youth programs for communicating values and the “Zeitensprünge” program encourage young people to actively shape their community. The Democratic Youth Foundation also implements youth information and media skills development projects. The foundation initiates exchanges in the field of youth work at specialist conferences and events.
The foundation's own database ProMix-online, with around 23,000 addresses, offers Germany's largest pool of knowledge for projects and organizations involved in youth work. The foundation works with governmental and non-governmental organizations at the federal, state and local levels. This has resulted in networks such as the return and immigration association. With the focus on perspectives for young people, the Democratic Youth Foundation provides impulses for development in regions that are particularly affected by demographic change and emigration. Through funding projects, competitions and programs, young people should receive positive impulses for a future in regions that are affected by the shrinking and dismantling of social, cultural and economic infrastructure.
