The Catholic Foundation for Gifted Students Stiftung Dey is a non-legal church foundation in the administration of the Diocese of Limburg . It is based in Limburg an der Lahn .

history

The foundation, established in 1987, is named after the founder Elisabeth Dey and the clergyman and academic director Joseph Dey. The aim of the Dey Foundation is to support talented children and young people from Catholic families who have a special intellectual or other talent, ideally and materially. Through its sponsorship, the Dey Foundation wants to contribute to the training of qualified young Catholics in various areas of society. Martin W. Ramb has headed the Dey Foundation since 2000 .

Scholarship and funding

The candidate can apply for admission to the funding. The selection takes place in a multi-stage selection process based on four pillars: the Catholic denomination, the church commitment, the special talent and the professional qualification and character suitability of the applicant. Admission to the Dey Foundation is also possible for children. In this case, the parents submit the application for membership. In general, an age limit of 35 years applies.

The Dey Foundation is funded regardless of wealth or income. In addition to financial grants, the funding includes non-material funding and enabling contacts within the sponsored group. Participation in the annual meeting is compulsory for all scholarship holders. Funding is initially granted for a calendar year. An extension can be requested. Before the decision on further funding is made, a performance review (work report) determines whether this is justified. An extension is granted for a further year.

Procedure

Applicants who can be shortlisted will be invited to an interview. The Foundation's Board of Trustees makes the final decision on funding. The selection process is characterized by the endeavor to achieve a fair and comprehensive assessment of the personality of each applicant. This includes a differentiated understanding of talent, which is deliberately not determined by generalizing methods. The focus is on the individual evaluation of suitability, performance and willingness with a view to the respective educational or training goal.
