Stig (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The stig , the term stands for basket, was a Swedish measure of weight for charcoal . A distinction was made between two sizes. A large stig (stor-stig) was 1½ times as much as a stig. The measure was just as heavy as the load with hard coal and was equated to the volume of 12 tons of grain or 36 kappars . According to the regulation of 1739, the goods were measured in bulk.

  • 1 Stor-Stig = 18 tons = 1 Skrinda (wagon)

Exceptions:

  • 1 Stig = 12 tons = (between 672 cans (can) and 645.58 cans (must)) = about 1.6896 cubic meters
  • in the trade 1 Stig = up to 24 tons
