Stillbirth is a brutal death metal / grindcore band from Hagen .

history

Stillbirth was founded in 1999 by Lukas Swiaczny (guitar) and Phillipp Kurschus (drums) and initially began to play a few local live gigs. It took four years until the first demo "Happy Stillbirthday Party" was recorded in 2003. After a few line-up changes from 2004 to 2007, the band recorded four songs for an EP, which appeared the following year on the split CDs “Supreme Brutal Legions # 3” (Vrykoblast / Singapore) and “Soldiers of Death” (Deathstar / USA).

In 2009 the first album "Plakative Aggression" (Rotten Roll Rex / Germany) was released, then in April the band went on their first long Eastern European tour. After further isolated appearances in Germany as well as in other European countries, the second studio album "Endgame is near" was released in 2011 on Deafground Records. Further festival appearances followed, e.g. B. at the Deathfeast Open Air 2011 or at the NRW Deathfest, in addition, the band went on their first US tour in the same year, which included an appearance at the New Jersey Deathfest as a special highlight. In 2012, a second front man joined Kevin Piepenburg to relieve guitarist Lukas Swiaczny.

Texts, music and performance

Stillbirth deal with a wide variety of topics in their songs; among the songs, which are mostly written in English, there are also occasional German texts; purely thematically, the band cannot be assigned to any specific genre. Musically, influences from Despised Icon and Cephalic Carnage can be discerned. In the usual context of the genre, the band is considered technically adept. Stillbirths usually appear in light beach clothes - in contrast to the vehemence of the music - which is why the band's style is sometimes jokingly called "Surfgrind".
