Stink wood

Stinkholz , English stinkwood , French Bois puant , describes various tree or shrub species whose fresh wood or other parts of the plant stink and smell unpleasantly.

Many species are designated with stink wood, such as the African stink wood ( Prunus africana ) or Ocotea bullata from South Africa or also Ocotea foetens , Ocotea kenyensis and various Celtis and Foetidia species. As well as Gyrocarpus americanus , Zieria arborescens or some Jacksonia and Coprosma species from Australia and New Zealand as well as Cryptocarya latifolia and Petersianthus macrocarpus from South Africa.

Others are Gustavia augusta from South America or Olax zeylanica , Olax stricta , also Sorbus aucuparia and Juniperus sabina , Nyssa sylvatica and Frangula caroliniana .
