Stirling Highland Hotel
The Stirling Highland Hotel is a hotel in the Scottish city of Stirling in the Council Area of the same name . In 1965 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
The history of what is now Stirling High School began in 1129 as a seminary of the Church of the Holy Rude . In 1635 it received its own school building as a secondary school on Castle Hill near Stirling Castle . She used the present building, erected between 1854 and 1856, until 1962. The construction cost was around £ 5,000. Between 1887 and 1890 the school building was expanded and a primary school was added in 1905. In 1990 the former school was converted into a hotel.

The Stirling Highland Hotel is located at the junction between Academy Road and Spittal Street in the historic center of Stirling. Opposite is the Glengarry Lodge . The simple neo-Gothic building has one to two floors. Alexander Handyside Ritchie is responsible for the sculptural design . The north-west facing main facade along Academy Road is twelve axes wide. The central tower with a pointed arched doorway to the inner courtyard is striking . It is designed with bay windows , corner tourelles , tower clocks and sculptures. The tower closes with a slate-covered pyramid roof .
