The Stjärnurmakarna AB is a Swedish company that the marketing and distribution of watches and jewelry has specialized. The company works with some of the world's most famous watch and jewelry brands.

history

The company Stjärnurmakarna goes back to an initiative of the Swedish watchmaking trade and was initially intended primarily to better market this through exhibitions and trade fairs and to produce and distribute information material. For this purpose, the symbol with the star in front of a gear wheel, introduced by the Swedish watchmakers' association in 1913, was used as a uniform trademark, which has been a registered trademark since 1934. In 1936 it was merged with Sveriges Urmakares Garantisällskap , which was also founded by the watchmakers ' association . Each member of the guarantee company had to pay a share, which covered part of the repair costs in guarantee cases as well as advertising costs for marketing. In 1941 membership became compulsory.

Due to market upheavals in the 1970s and 1980s, which went hand in hand with new types of watches and a reduced demand for repairs, and gradually changed the role of watchmakers, the company realigned itself and was transferred to Stjärnurmakarna AB in 1985 after a change in legal form. In 2016 the company operated 40 stores under the Stjärnurmakarna brand, with a total turnover of over 43 million Swedish kronor .
