Shock was a volume measure for firewood in the Grand Duchy of Hesse and according to Silesian measures in Breslau . Not to fathom expected, they told a push into Halbe and neighborhood impacts. It was introduced in the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1821.

  • Free City of Frankfurt 1 push = 4 fathoms = 12 sticks
  • Breslau 1 pile = 14 feet high; 20 feet wide and cock length 5 feet
  • Breslau 1 pile = 10 feet high; 14 feet wide and 3 feet cock length
  • Breslau 1 fathom = 6 feet high; 6 feet wide and cock length 2½ to 3 feet

Outside of Breslau, the block length fluctuated between 2 ½ and 3 ½ feet in the fathom. A thrust was calculated to be about 4½ fathoms, but you bet 6. The different heights and widths as well as the block length for the fathoms fluctuated considerably. The Breslauer was equal to the Berlin shock with 486 square feet and a cock length of 3 feet.
