Nasser Al-Kharafi
Nasser Al-Kharafi ( Arabic ناصر محمد عبد المحسن الخرافي, DMG Nāṣr Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Muḥsin al-Ḫarāfī ; * June 17, 1943 in Kuwait City ; † April 17, 2011 in Cairo ) was a Kuwaiti entrepreneur .
Life
He was the owner of the MA Kharafi & Sons company . He held the majority of Zain , one of the largest telecommunications companies in the Middle East and Africa. Kharafi had businesses and franchises in 11 countries including Egypt, South Africa and Syria. In Egypt, the Al Kharafi Group built the Ghalib International Marina . The Forbes magazine put him at No. 77 in 2011 a list of the richest men in the world with an estimated fortune of 10.4 billion US dollars .
Al-Kharafi died of a heart attack in Cairo in 2011. He was married and had five children. His brother Jassem Al-Kharafi is speaker of the Kuwaiti parliament ; his sister Faiza is the rector of Kuwait University .
