The Stock Exchange Tower is a tall building in London . It's in the City of London , on the corner of Old Broad Street and Threadneedle Street. The 100 meter high building with 26 floors was built in 1970 and opened in 1972 by Queen Elizabeth II , whereupon the London Stock Exchange moved in.

On July 20, 1990, an IRA bomb exploded in the men's room behind the visitors' gallery . The floor had been vacated beforehand so no one was injured. The ongoing trend towards electronic commerce had increasingly turned the Exchange Tower into a tourist attraction. Although the visitor gallery reopened, it closed for good in 1992. The London Stock Exchange moved to Paternoster Square in July 2004 . The building is being extensively renovated, with the facade being completely clad with glass and steel.
