Stolichnaya ( Russian Столичная , German transcription: Stolichnaya ) is a plurality of distilleries in Russia from cereals produced vodka .

Stolichnaya is the most consumed vodka brand in the world and is sold worldwide (annual output around 15 million cases). The name of the vodka simply means "coming from the capital (Moscow)", the lion's share of the production is also made in the Moscow Cristall distillery (previous owner until 1918 was Ivan Smirnov).

Stolichnaya is part of the Luxembourg-based SPI Group and is distributed worldwide by Teamspirit. In the United States , Stolichnaya Vodka was distributed by PepsiCo from 1972 , which in exchange for it could sell Pepsi in the Soviet Union.

The brand name appears internationally, also in Germany, in the English transcription Stolichnaya .

The label of the bottles shows a stylized drawing of the Moscow Hotel Moskva .

Awards

Stolichnaya Vodka won a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958. A little later, it was also awarded a gold medal at the 1963 Leipzig Fair. Both honors still adorn the label of the Stolichnaya bottles today.
