Stuttering (engine)

When stuttering has trouble is gasoline engines called, in which the motor runs unevenly, that is, when the engine power and the speed at warm engine break briefly over again. The result is that the engine “does not run smoothly”. Depending on the required power, the engine can also stop.

The causes can be faults in the fuel supply, the ignition or the electronics (e.g. sender for top dead center). Viscous oil during a cold start can also be a possible cause. The individual causes can sometimes be observed more frequently with certain vehicle brands and types.

The “stuttering engine” is often used as a symbolic comparison in the case of problems in the economic development of a country or a company.
