Strauss' engagement with Waltzes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Strauss' engagement Waltzes is a waltz that is attributed to Johann Strauss Sohn . The date and place of the premiere are not known.

Remarks

Similar to Strauss' autograph Waltzes , this waltz is also a mystery. Both waltzes were published in 1872 by the Boston publishing house White & Goullaud . It is not known when and where this work was performed at all. It is also not certain whether the work comes from Johann Strauss at all. It could be that an unknown arranger composed the waltz based on Strauss themes. But it could also be that Johann Strauss has nothing to do with it. In this case a stranger would have composed the work (with or without the use of musical themes by Strauss) and had it published under his name. In any case, the work is today, rightly or wrongly, ascribed to Johann Strauss. The title name could be derived from the commitment (commitment) of Johann Strauss to certain concerts in the USA.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 8 minutes and 49 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
