The Strichelkrankheit is a Y0 by the strain of the non-persistent virus Y leaf disease caused. The virus is primarily transmitted by aphids . The virulence is so high that a test stitch can be sufficient for a transmission. In the event of an infection, ink-splatter-like, dark brown spots appear on the underside of the leaf. The term Strichelkrankheit comes from a dot-shaped leaf change that can be seen especially in secondarily infected plants, in addition to so-called rough mosaic and ripples come. The disease plays a role especially in potatoes , tobacco , tomatoes and corn .

A closely related disease is tobacco rib tan , which is caused by the YN strain.
