Strike Force is a computer game and the new edition or a remake of the successful Defender from 1980, which was produced in 1991 by Midway Games . The graphics, which now come up in more colors with parallax scrolling , improved animations and more opponents, as well as the gameplay, which has become more complex, have been revised up to date .
The player takes control of a small spaceship that has to evacuate colonists from various planetary surfaces, who are threatened there by a voracious type of dinosaur. For this, mainly small soldiers are activated, who jump off independently at low altitude. They collect colonists and various bonus items and automatically jump back up when you approach them. Alternatively, they hang on their own ship and shoot at any target that presents themselves.
The primary aim is to defeat all enemy monsters, vehicles and structures on and above the planet's surfaces. A dozen extra weapons, of which the player can carry up to 5 in addition to the standard shot, make this easier, even if the right selection, e.g. B. rockets, bombs, timewarp or air mines, in the hectic pace of action is a relatively difficult thing. Since, in contrast to normal shoot 'em ups, the flight direction and speed in the playing field are not specified, you can also withdraw from more frequented areas at any time in order to tackle them again. A small radar screen over the entire playing field supports orientation.
