Project activities and work packages (AP)

WP1: Risk Assessment / Vulnerability

The assessment of possible damage plays a major role in assessing the flood risk. These damage potential analyzes are the basis for numerous planning processes, e.g. B. the assessment of the cost-benefit ratio of flood protection measures or considerations of monetary reserves to be created. In the STRIMA project, existing procedures and approaches for determining the damage potential in future floods are applied, checked and further developed at the municipal level.

WP2: Near-natural and municipal precautionary measures / flood risk awareness

As part of a two-day STRIMA excursion and a workshop, the representatives of the municipalities in the project area are informed about the goals and implementation options of near-natural flood protection. In order to improve the communal precautionary measures in the communes, the flood information and management software INGE (interactive hazard map for communal flood protection) is presented and distributed. The parlor game developed in the project serves to strengthen the flood risk awareness of the population.

WP3: Risk reduction through municipal planning

STRIMA also focuses on flood-adapted spatial planning and building precautions in the municipal area. In an expertise, u. a. the topics of reducing flood risks by optimizing exposure, avoiding risks by reducing flood susceptibility and flood retention in the area were analyzed using municipal examples in Saxony and the Czech Republic. The result is a compilation of effective municipal options for action and measures to reduce potential damage.

WP4: Cross-border flood risk management forum

In the STRIMA project, an interdisciplinary series of events is conceptualized and initiated. This forum offers experts, practitioners, interest groups and municipalities at risk of or affected by floods a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in order to jointly tackle problems and find solutions. Within the framework of STRIMA, eight events are planned in the Czech Republic and Saxony, at which technical focal points are discussed, taking regional circumstances into account.
