Strobe dome

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A stroboscopic cupola ( English stroboscopic cupola ) is a variant of the viewing dome for armored vehicles developed in France between the wars . The dome uses the stroboscopic effect by having a slotted, motorized outer dome rotating around an inner dome with viewing windows. This dome was used in the Char 2C and was tested by the US Army, but found to be unsuitable.
