Rascal
The term Tramp (from the Alemannic strollen roam) originally referred to a vagabond, vagabonds or rogues . The first evidence of the word can be found in Switzerland in 1580, in literary form in 1670 in Grimmelshausen , a greater spread can be demonstrated in the 19th century.
An attempt to derive Adolf J. Storfer as a borrowing of Swabian mercenaries from the Italian astrologo (for corresponding jugglers in the military train) could not be substantiated. This interpretation was widespread during the Nazi era .
The swear word has been belittled over the years, as evidenced by numerous titles of artistic products:
- Lady and the Tramp , film
- The Little Rascals , US TV series
- Lauterbacher Strolch , statue in Hesse
This is also clear in Knaur's dictionary from 1985 by the change from Strolch as a synonym for a bush thief to a rascal and a little boy . In addition, the rascal ride is mentioned as the Swiss name for a ride in a stolen automobile.
