Streamlining

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A streamlined fairing is an outer, comprehensive covering of material on vehicles that is attached to achieve a streamlined shape and thus low air resistance when moving.

Streamlining is used today in almost all aircraft and many vehicles such as locomotives and motorcycles .

As a rule, the body or the aircraft fuselage forms the streamlining. However, there are also additional panels, e.g. for bicycles ( velomobile ).
