regulation

The hospitals approved according to § 108 SGB V ( university clinics , planned hospitals and hospitals that have concluded a supply contract with the state associations of the health insurance companies) must prepare and publish a structured quality report according to § 136b SGB V annually . This regulation came into force on August 31, 2005 and applied retrospectively to 2004. The hospitals reserve the right to collect and publish their own reports at any time. Every clinic has the right to provide more information than is required by law.

The obligation of hospitals to publish their report is intended to guarantee more transparency for patients and health insurance companies.

The quality report is made available to all interested persons in two versions on the Internet: as a PDF document with a shortened version and as an XML data record for querying detailed information. The latter report had to be prepared and published for the first time on October 31, 2007. In the meantime, various search portals have been set up that query the xml data.
