Structural plaster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Structural plaster is a finishing plaster with a plastic structured surface on facades and interior walls, in contrast to smooth plaster .

The structure either consists of a visible aggregate or is formed when the plaster is applied with tools such as a trowel , float , brush, wooden pencil, comb, etc. with a specific coating technique or according to a pattern. Structural plasters have been used for decoration since the 19th century, especially since historicism , whereas previously they were due to regional building materials and craft traditions.

As far as the plastering mortar used is concerned, EN 13300 differentiates between an aggregate of less than 1.5 mm for fine and more than 1.5 mm for coarse textured plasters.
