The Studia Medievalia Septentrionalia (SMS) is an interdisciplinary series of Medieval Studies . It has been published by the Austrian philologist Rudolf Simek since 1996 and is published by the Fassbaender publishing house in Vienna . So far, 23 individual volumes have been published in the series.

In the Studia Medievalia Septentrionalia, topics are dealt with according to the series title that relate to and are connected to the area of ​​north-northwestern Europe from the Early Middle Ages to the High Middle Ages . The spectrum ranges from historical treatises to philological and cultural and religious studies topics to scientific history works.
